Working to restore Post Office services in Hassocks
Residents have raised concerns over the lack of Post Office services in the village following the closure of the current branch on 1st August. We’ve liaised with shopkeepers who submitted applications to run a community post office from their premises. We’ve been lobbying Post Office Limited to push for a speedy replacement of services at a new location within Hassocks and for an interim mobile service visiting a suitable location.
Remembrance Sunday volunteers needed
We’re looking ahead to this year’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations on 8 November and are inviting local residents to help us ensure the day is inclusive, meaningful and well organised. We are seeking volunteer marshals and general helpers to support the parade and assist with the smooth running of activities on the day. Details of the parade and wider arrangements will be shared soon, as the community comes together to remember all those affected by war and conflict. Last year around 100 people attended, and with the support of local community groups and residents we expect a much larger gathering this year. The last Census recorded 297 Hassocks residents as UK armed forces veterans, with many more local families connected to military service or experiences of war and conflict. If you think you can help, please contact Louise Coles at office@hassocks-pc.gov.uk
Adastra Park consultation
Thank you to everyone who shared their views on the future of Adastra Park. Throughout August, Hassocks Parish Council has been supporting Mid Sussex District Council’s consultation by promoting their survey online and speaking with people in and around the park. Residents and park users were asked about their experiences, including comfort, safety, facilities, the grounds and the wider environment. We have also been talking with local sports clubs, community groups and other regular users about how the park and pavilion could work better for everyone. Combined with shared feedback from the Mid Sussex consultation, these conversations will help shape our own plans for possible improvements.
