New crossing outside Sussex Grocer
Residents will have noticed by now the pedestrian dropped kerbs which have been installed between the Sussex Grocer and the far side pavement on Keymer Road.
The aim is to provide a safe and accessible crossing point for pedestrians, particularly those with visual impairments, wheelchairs, pushchairs and mobility scooters.
Whilst it is not a legal requirement that vehicles stop at this type of crossing, if safe to do so, drivers should show consideration to pedestrians waiting to cross. We would also like to remind drivers that it is an offence to park in front of a pedestrian dropped kerb, this includes Blue Badge holders; vehicles can be towed and Penalty Charge Notices can be served. Stopping momentarily to drop off or pick up someone is allowed.
Garden of Remembrance
Our fantastic volunteers have recently resumed their weekly Tuesday afternoon gardening and maintenance session in the Garden of Remembrance. They do an amazing job keeping the garden looking neat and tidy throughout the spring/summer months. The group recently received a kind donation of spring flowers/ shrubs from Tates Garden Centre. We are always looking for more volunteers who might be able to spare a couple of hours on a Tuesday afternoon. If you are interested in being involved, please get in touch with the Parish Council.
